When I got off my JetBlue flight, I was very surprised to see we were not going on another well known flight company, but a small gate that said Cape Air. The flight people let us see out and I saw: Literally the SMALLEST plane I had ever remembered seeing. And when we got on it was also very small inside, with nine passengers and two captains, the flight was loud, but very relaxing.

when you get off, you are led to a very small room. (Small for an airport.) there you can do a jigsaw puzzle or go to a counter to pick up the car keys for the car you may be renting. I may mention that at the time we went, it was winter of 2026. Thus it was very cold and there was much more snow than where I live.

The park is huge and it is also one of the most visited national parks in the world. It is also flameouts for… Lobsters. Seriously. There is so much lobster merch and the lobster there tastes really good. A lot of mascots are lobsters too. The trails are actually really pretty in winter and have huge shimmering icicles. You can trudge through 16 inches of snow and it would be normal. We also went to Jordan pond, where we stepped and sat on the ice and you wouldn’t notice because it would seem like you were standing in a open field of snow and ice, while fish lived below. It was beautiful.

as you continue your journey, you may go to Otter cliffs. (I named it otter cliffs but later found out it WAS actually called Otter cliffs.) there, there is a rocky area covered in snow. Since Acadia does not have many people in winter, most shops will be closed, but at least there will be less people, and more isolation, occasionally bumping into another hiker. At otter cliffs there is also tons of snow in the winter, thus there might be cracks between the ricks that you cannot see so you should be careful. But once you reach the bottom of the rocky area, you can sit on the cliff or near it and see ocean. There may also be patches of ice on random spots so make sure you do not trip. When I went there, me and one of my family smashed hard snow and ice up to make this slushy mixture. Around us I saw lots if Dead Sea urchins with their insides gone, just the shell, which is why I called it otter cliffs. We put them in with some dried seaweed we found and mixed it and created some kind of white urchins slushy that was 100% disgusting but also satisfying. Eventually we ran out of urchins and seaweed so we went back up and read our books a little.

We also went to the beach that had little bits of ice that had formed in the sea and had broken when it crashed to shore. I wrote I LOVE ARCADIA! In the sand/ snow and laughed. I got my junior ranger badge and we went to the George B. Dorr museum At the collage of the Atlantic and got to go to a touch pool where there were many weird animals like the sand dolled and the moon snail. The moon snail is very squishy and has a huge foot that they cover their shells with. They also eat clams by covering them and making a neat hole in their shells with their little drills. Which is terrifying if you think about it. Just imagine getting your safety drilled into them being sucked out and eaten…

When we were at the touch pool, there was a room that had a bathroom next to it and it was filled with glass boxes full of animals that were stuffed. though it was sad to see them, it was also super cool that I was able to see a single moment of their behavior that was frozen in time. Here is a picture of one. (LOOK DOWN)

it also felt a little chilly, even though I knew these animals were not killed by the museum, but found dead. It felt weird to see so many bodies of animals that had lived and died, somewhere near here. There were also whale bones. Huge ones. Large skulls bigger than maybe even a whole person. I also went down to the rocky ledges where the iconic Acadia lighthouse shone its light every few seconds.

The best part was there were so many textures of snow in and out of the park, some powdery, some hard, but I liked the medium sticky hard snow the best since its perfect for making snowmen and snowballs that are easy to make. It’s also good for making forts. The mountain were also one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen.
